6 Ways to Escape the Quarantine Funk!

6 Ways to Escape the Quarantine Funk!

Welcome to another Monday blog post, friends! I think we've all experienced, as I describe it, that "quarantine funk." It can be a trapped feeling, a heavy feeling, and even a hopeless feeling. I've come up with 6 ways to escape this quarantine funk, and turn that frown upside down! I hope these suggestions can be helpful to you, and I'd love if you shared this post with others as well! You never know who may be in a funk these days, and need an encouraging word! I hope you enjoy!

1. Send a letter to a loved one

Technology use has soared since the start of Coronavirus. Everyone is using technology, and social media as their main source of communication and staying connected to the world. Although this is a wonderful tool to utilize during social distancing, being on your phone all day can lead to tension headaches, frustration, time management problems, and drainage. In my opinion, this is the perfect time to add a personalized "old school approach" to sending some love once in a while! The process of writing, and mailing a letter takes the attention off of ourselves and our current circumstances, and focuses it onto someone else! (Not to mention that bit of joy we get just thinking of how the recipient will react when they find a handwritten letter with their name on it!) It may just "make their day," and in turn, yours will be better too!

2. Get moving on an adventure!

Many of us have been social distancing in nature, and as rejuvenating as it is, going to the same location over and over can feel pretty monotonous. Take a look on google maps, and discover a location that you, or your family, have not yet explored! Pack a blanket, snacks, relaxing necessities like your Bible, books, camera, music, and go on an adventure that will in-turn lift your spirits! Then, bask in the realization that your “quarantine funk” just led you to a “beautiful adventure” that you may have not otherwise experienced!

3. Practice a new hobby

Change is a difficult thing to endure. If you’re a routine person who enjoys being in control, then this unexpected and unknown time may be really irking you! Perhaps you’re counting down, or sleeping away the days until things finally return to "normal." However, change is what we make of it, and every bit of a change is an open opportunity for growth! Now is the perfect time to put your focus into a skill that you can be proud of accomplishing when this is all over! This could be learning a new language, instrument, reading a book, raising money through a fundraiser, etc. Nothing lasts forever! All things will eventually come to an end, but how we use the time we have now will have a great impact on our later!

4. Take a task OFF of your to-do list

Life is full of so many ups and downs that sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to rest! One way this can be done is by surrendering your spot in the kitchen, giving yourself a much needed break, and ordering in! At times, cooking can be such a burden for us moms, and the spoiled cherry on top of an exhausted sundae! If you're in a funk, take a task off your to-do list, and replace it with something that will do your body some good!

5. Give your home a facelift!

Where are we spending most of our time during this quarantine? AT HOME. Sitting in the same chair, in the same spot, cleaning the same messy parts over and over. I don't know about you, but I don't want to resent my living arrangements, or feel stuck in my same surroundings all of the time! Projects don't have to cost money! Shift some furniture around, and get creative with your living set up! This can be a small change that makes a big difference, and lifts your spirit with an atmosphere appearing fresh and new!

6. Spending time with the Father

Initially, this was only going to be five ways to get out of a quarantine funk, but in my heart I knew cutting it off at just five would be leaving out my most important and effective way of all: seeking the Father! Coronavirus has been a wake up call and reminder that in our human form, we have NO IDEA what the future will bring! We are on the edge of our seats, listening to the chatter from the news, and social media on this "deadly virus”…not knowing WHO to believe, or WHEN life will return to normal?

So where's the PEACE when all that’s being promoted is FEAR? Where does the comfort come in all of this uncertainty? The comfort is that we have access to the One who KNOWS it all! Yahweh (God)! The peace is found in the ONE who knows all things, and can calm our minds as quickly and easily as He can calm a raging sea! So blast some worship music, open your Bible with expectancy, pray to our Father in Heaven, and consider resting in His never-changing love/plan for you. :-)

"And we know that for those who love Elohim (God) all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Roman 8:28

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock." Isaiah 26:3-4

I hope you all enjoyed these 6 ways to escape the quarantine funk! I'd love to hear which was your favorite in the comments below, and which you would add to my list? Let's all get out of our funks together, and make the most of every second that this unique season is providing us! Love to you all!

Cool, Calm, and Collectedly Yours,
