5 Things to Daily Pray for in the Midst of Parenting

Hey mamas/mamas-to-be! Today's blog post is all about things we as parents can pray for on a daily basis when it comes to raising our kids! I hope these few suggestions can bring peace to your hearts as we navigate through motherhood together. You DON'T have to do it alone even though at times it may feel that way! Let's take deep breaths, regroup, and spend time with our heavenly Father in prayer!

1. Patience

Patience is something that's hard to have as a parent, especially during a busy life transition, or a difficult season. It's important to display the same kind of patience with our kids that we ask of them. We've all fallen into the rut of continued snapping at our children due to a lack of patience. However, the more patience we can display to our child, the more patience we may see start to develop in them!

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12

"Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly." Proverbs 14:29

2. Humility

Humility is a tough one! Can I get an "Amen?" As parents we often want to assert our authority to our kids, but even we as adults "mess up" on a daily basis. It's important to be able to say, "I'm sorry" in circumstances where we may be wrong. In the end, our children will gain more confidence when it comes to having humility if we lead by example for their little eyes to see!

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2

"Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5

3. Ability to give grace

Grace is something we ALL need, and if you're a believer in Jesus then it's something Yahweh gives you and me every single day! The more we know of our Father in heaven, the more we can display traits of Him to our own children. If we cannot "earn" the grace our Father in heaven gives us freely, then shouldn't we aim to freely give it to our children as their earthly parents?

"He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time." 2 Timothy 1:9

"For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace." Romans 6:14

4. Strength

Sometimes us moms don't "feel" physically, or even mentally strong enough to tackle the day with our kids! We can suffer burn-out from work, or life in general which can often lead to us feeling tired and frail. Thankfully, with the Lord's help, we're able to take on His strength and make it through the day a little easier knowing He sees, and is with us!

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." Psalm 46:1-3

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

5. Wisdom and discernment

Throughout the day, there are many decisions that moms make for their children. The idea of being entrusted with such "little beings" can often be overwhelming. Asking God for wisdom to make the best decisions, and discernnment to judge situations well can lift a lot of heavy burdens!

"For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." James 1:5

I hope this post allows you to pause, and ask yourself which of the above you may need to ask Yahweh for? I know I can personally attest to needing all! Let's focus on tackling one day at a time, relying on His love and grace to get us through! Happy parenting my beautiful friends!!

Cool, Mom, and Collectedly Yours,
